Call on the Home Office to allow overseas care workers to care for their children

Fri 27 Sep

Ukba- Vulcan House

Women care workers recruited from overseas by UK employers, including the NHS, are being denied the right by Home Office decision makers to have their children live with them in the UK.

The law changed on March 11th 2024 so that NO care workers moving to the UK could bring their dependents with them. However Women of Zimbabwe knows of hundreds of women who have moved to the UK to be care workers *before this date* who are seeing their child visas rejected by the Home Office.

These women – from Zambia, Zimbabwe, Guyana, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa – were assured they would be able to bring their children with them but have been refused visas despite meeting all the criteria, based on reasoning which appears to discriminate against mothers in particular.
Women of Zimbabwe calls on all caring citizens to unite in solidarity with these mothers to urge the Home Office to fairly apply the law.

We are asking local organisations, trade unions and people with shared epxerience of this to join us or send a representative to come and support our protest. All welcome in solidarity.
