This year, 2019, we are celebrating our 25th anniversary, and the 25th anniversary of democracy in South Africa; a historic moment which holds great significance across the entire Southern African region.
To mark these anniversaries, we are planning a special event: An interview with Mozambican politician and humanitarian, Graça Machel, in front of a live audience. Graça Machel is also the widow of both former South African President Nelson Mandela and of Mozambican President Samora Machel.
The event is on Wednesday 30th October from 12:30 – 14:30 at Amnesty International, UK Human Rights Action Centre, 17-25 New Inn Yard, London EC2A 3EA
The interview will take the theme ‘25 years of…’, reviewing challenges the region has overcome over the last 25 years and highlight challenges that remain. Throughout the interview, we will also be exploring ways that further progress might be achieved in addressing inequality and delivering rights and sustainable development in the region. The 2-hour event will conclude with a question and answer session, when people in the audience will be able to ask Graça Machel questions.
