ACTSA in Oxford

From 24 June to 21 July 2025, ACTSA and the Anti-Apartheid Legacy presented Norman Kaplan: All Shall Be Afforded Dignity! across two Oxford venues, first at OVADA (24 June – 2 July), then Cowley Library (2 – 21 July). The exhibition marked 30 years since South Africa’s first democratic elections and featured Kaplan’s striking linocuts and political cartoons reflecting themes of dignity, democracy, and resistance.

At OVADA, the launch included a talk by BBC journalist Mike Wooldridge OBE. At Cowley Library, a special Mandela Day event on 18 July invited visitors aged 16+ to spend 67 minutes creating their own lino-cut prints and to take home artwork from South Africa’s Streetwires collective.

Together, the Oxford exhibitions and Mandela Day workshop brought art, memory, and hands-on learning to local audiences, honouring Nelson Mandela’s legacy through creativity and community engagement.
