In recent years, revenues from the oil industry has distorted the perception of Angola as a middle-income country even after the oil prices crash in 2014, while the majority of Angolans continue to live below the poverty line, particularly in rural areas. The key challenges for Angola in the coming years are to diversify its economy, achieve landmine free status by 2025, work for greater governmental transparency and reduce corruption, and to ensure the country’s rich resources are used for the benefit of all of its citizens.

ACTSA produces a quarterly publication the Angola Monitor, which covers politics, economics, human rights, and aid and development news from the region. We have been publishing the Angola Monitor since 2009 and it is available in English or Portuguese.
